is preparing to host its 15th annual meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 7:30 - 9:30am, at 60 State Street in downtown Albany. Nearly 200 BID members, key stakeholders and corporate partners are expected to be in attendance. The two-hour event bring will include highlights of the organization's progress toward its strategic priorities, and outline plans for future initiatives for strong economic development in New York's Capital City. Mark Rivers, Founder and President of Brix and Company, one of the western United States' most active boutique real estate development and services companies, is slated to give the keynote address entitled "Creating the Future." Rivers was the developer of the award-winning BoDo project in downtown Boise from 2002 to 2007, which transformed a declining warehouse district and brownfield site into a vibrant urban neighborhood. The $60 million project included the rehabilitation of historic-era buildings and the new construction of retail, office, cinema, hotel and parking facilities. Today, BoDo is a hub of consumerism, commerce and community in the heart of Idaho's capital city. In 2009, Rivers and BoDo were given the "Best Redevelopment and Reuse" Award by the International Economic Development Council, the leading global organization of economic development professionals.
