Downtown Business Owners Collaborate on Movie - Red Carpet Premiere Scheduled for the Palace Theatre

ALBANY, NY (06/19/2013)(readMedia)-- Albany, NY - Downtown Albany business owners Arlene & Ali Brathwaite, The Book Club (who also own Brathwaite Publishing), Angelo Maddox, Fresh & Fly Clothing, Jad "Es-Class" El'Esencio of Es Class Enterprise Motion pictures along with Johnson Communications, present the red carpet movie premiere Darkest Before Dawn at the Palace Theatre on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM. The movie is based on the novel by local author Arlene Brathwaite.

"The plot of Darkest Before Dawn pulls from my own personal experiences during the recession," explains Author Arlene Brathwaite, "Rather than have the situation define me, I defined the situation. I believe that a lot of audiences can relate to similar struggles related to the recent economic crisis and perhaps the story will inspire others."

The film is a collaboration of local producers and actors featuring talent such as Tameka Amar, Michael Barber, Lafonso Bonner, Erica Cain, Erick S. Gray, Corey "Bad Seed" Person, Haseim Townsend and Mojavi Wright. The backdrop of the film and the original story also features the City of Albany.

"We invite the public to attend this local star studded movie premiere," stated Maddox, "This is a historical event, with local downtown Albany businesses and community members combining their resources, talent and time over a two year period to make a motion picture. We encourage all to come and celebrate this accomplishment and enjoy this remarkable film."

Arlene and her husband Ali Brathwaite will begin developing their next project films in the near future, based again on some of the more recent books that Arlene has published.

An after-event celebration will be held at The Buddha Tea House & Lounge, 69 North Pearl Street, Albany, New York, immediately following the film showing.
