Clean and Renewable Fuel Sources Bring Industry Together
ALBANY, NY (07/02/2007)(readMedia)-- The Environmental Business Association of NYS (EBA/NYS) announces the formation of its Alternative and Renewable Fuels Committee. The task force met on June 26th, 2007 in Albany and implemented a committee structure to ensure a permanent body to meet the needs of this fast growing market place.
Mr. Rick Zimmerman of Agriculture and Community Development Services, LLC was elected Chair of the Committee. Mr. Zimmerman served as Deputy Commissioner for Economic Development for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets for 7 1/2 years and Director of Governmental Relations for New York Farm Bureau for 13 years.
Mr. John D’Alessandro, VP of Public Affairs at Zone5 was voted to the Vice Chair. Mr. D’Alessandro has been in the communications field for more than 25 years. He was the Vice President of Public Affairs for the Special Olympics until 2006 and is currently the Principal for WordSmith Communications.
“The EBA’s focus on renewable fuels is a reflection of the critical importance this growing industry will have upon our state, our communities and our economy. I am pleased to be recognized by EBA members and supporters as chairman of this influential group and look forward to working with industry and government in this capacity.” Said Rick Zimmerman.
"The development and commercialization of alternative fuels will create significant energy, environmental and economic opportunities for New York and the nation. In addition to the direct investments made in this dynamic industry, we can create the means to revitalize and expand our agricultural resources," said John D'Alessandro
Also formed were subcommittees on Policy and Information with Justin Miller an Associate at Harris Beach, LLC and Holly Cargill-Cramer, Director of Communications & Public Affairs at SUNY Cobleskill at the helm of each sub committee.
"The Policy Sub-committee will focus it's efforts on targeted Federal, State and local legislative and regulatory issues that will not only advance the interest of the alternative and renewable fuels industries in New York State, but also serve as a model for effective energy policy advocacy and development throughout the Nation. Central to the Policy sub-committee's goals will be the establishment of effective incentives and policies that will bring renewable fuels into mainstream use in New York State", said Miller.
"The work of the Information and Communications committee will focus on creating opportunities for businesses, researchers and educators in the emerging biofuels industries and to share information with the public and policy makers about all facets of the industry and its importance to our society and our environment", said Cargill-Cramer.
Through the increased use of clean, domestically produced renewable fuels, we will support New York’s farmers, stimulate economic activity, create more jobs, improve environmental conditions and reduce New York’s dependence on foreign fuel sources.
