Emma Willard School Hosts Guild of Adirondack Artists Group Exhibition

TROY, NY (01/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Emma Willard School is proud to host a group exhibition featuring the Guild of Adirondack Artists. Comprising approximately 30 artists, the Guild of Adirondack Artists draws members from various backgrounds, some with formal training, some who are self taught with years of experience.

According to the Guild, "We are primarily in the Saratoga Springs region of New York State, with members from surrounding areas. We are teachers, instructors, people working in other professions to make a living, but above all, we are artists at the core, and we are passionate about our work."

Emma Willard art instructor Lindsay Slaughter notes "the work in this exhibition ranges from the abstract to the figurative and represents an array of media: printmaking, painting, photo documentation, free-standing sculpture and wall-mounted sculpture. The diversity of materials and approaches attests to the diversity of our local artists."

Local artist Timothy Cahill, curator of the exhibit, is also a writer, photographer, and arts administrator. Cahill has written extensively about art and culture since 1980, and has exhibited in numerous museums and galleries. He is founding director of the Center for Documentary Arts at The Sage Colleges.

The exhibit, featuring 15 local artists, runs from January 13–February 26, 2012, in the Dietel Gallery on Emma Willard's campus, and is free and open to the public. The Gallery is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., weekends 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and is closed on school holidays. Emma Willard invites you to meet the featured artists during the Opening Reception on Saturday, January 28, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
