ST. PAUL, MN (05/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Emily Palkert, of Excelsior, Minn., was named Concordia University St. Paul's 2010-11 Female Athlete of the Year, the university's highest annual athletic honor.
During her senior season, the middle hitter on Concordia's volleyball team joined a select group of collegiate athletes by leading her team to a fourth consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship and becoming a four-time All American. Palkert led Concordia's Golden Bears to a Division II record 75 match winning streak that spanned her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
As a senior education major, Palkert's final year at Concordia also featured three NSIC Player of the Week awards. Following her career as a Golden Bear, Palkert signed a professional contract to play in Finland where she helped her team to a second place finish this past spring.
