ALBANY, NY (10/29/2008)(readMedia)-- Dorothy White, vice president of Fidelis Federal Credit Union (FCU) in New York City was named 2008 Outstanding Professional in the under $20 million asset category by the Credit Union Association of New York at their 2008 Annual Convention held recently in Niagara Falls, NY.
Outstanding Professional honors are awarded to individuals whose life's passion is credit unions, as demonstrated by hard work, dedication and success.
"Dorothy's devotion has had a positive impact on Fidelis and its members," said the Association's President/CEO William J. Mellin."
White came to Fidelis FCU 21 years ago and since then has been instrumental in making sure that the credit union meets and exceeds the expectations of its members, communicants of St. John's Baptist Church in New York. In 2007, Vice President White enhanced the youth and scholarship programs at the credit union, instituting credit union shares as scholarship awards and successfully reaching out to the credit union's youth membership to participate in their annual meeting and luncheon.
According to Board President George Wilkinson, "While Fidelis is only open twice a week, Dorothy opens the credit union's doors at least two additional days to take calls from share holders needing immediate assistance." White's continued hard work and dedication throughout her years at Fidelis is truly synonymous with the credit union "people helping people" philosophy.
Originally chartered in 1956, Fidelis FCU serves more than 350 members.
The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 91 years. It is the fifth largest league in the country.
