ALBANY, NY (11/12/2007)(readMedia)-- Statewide Transit Industry Conference Welcomes Former U.S. Labor Secretary and Workforce Development Leader Ray Marshall to Albany, Nov. 14
Workforce development is the focus of the New York State Public Transit Industry’s 2007 conference this week in Albany. The conference, held on November 14-16 at the Holiday Inn in Albany, entitled “Investing in the Human Side of Transit,” will feature keynote speaker former U.S. Labor Secretary Ray Marshall on Nov. 14.
Marshall is leading the strategic planning project for labor-management approaches to workforce development training and high performance. A host of lawmakers and business and community leaders will attend the session focused on workforce and economic development from 9-10:30 a.m. in the hotel’s Stonehenge AD rooms.
This session will be followed by the Workforce Development Panel Discussion lead by Marshall. This session will address the resources available for training, as well as new methods for learning for a new generation including student-centered learning and web-based training programs. Representatives from the Workforce Development Institute of NYS, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1321 and Hudson Valley Community College will take part in the discussion.
