ALBANY, NY (02/13/2013)(readMedia)-- Margaret Spellings, President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and former U.S. Secretary of Education, will give remarks at Breaking the Monopoly of Mediocrity, an education event to be held at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Albany on Thursday, April 4, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Business Council is joining forces with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for a Competitive Workforce to open the dialogue on how businesses can help fix the skills gap and play an integral role in education reform. The event will include a trailer of the movie "Won't Back Down," which chronicles the story of parent empowerment in the education system.
Margaret is one of the nation's leading experts on public policy. She serves as President and CEO of Margaret Spellings and Company and provides strategic guidance to some of the most recognized philanthropic and private sector organizations in the world. Also joining the program are representatives from Clarkson University, Corning Incorporated and more.
