ROCHESTER, NY (02/17/2017) (readMedia)-- On March 15, Nazareth will host the 17th annual Careers in Education Conference which brings together more than 200 high school students from the greater Rochester area to learn about careers and opportunities in education. This year's conference will include dynamic presenters, breakout sessions, lunch, and a college fair.

Keynote speaker Jeffrey Crane, superintendent of West Irondequoit Central School District, kicks off the day from 9:15-9:45 a.m. This will be followed by two workshop sessions from 10:55 a.m.-12:05 p.m. in which students can choose from a broad range of topics ranging from Physical Education: Opportunities in Athletics to Teaching the Hip Hop Generation. The conference will conclude with lunch and a college fair from 12:10-1:10 p.m..

Nazareth has long been a supporter of careers in education and offers a number of degrees and programs in the teaching field including Adolescent Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics projects nearly 1.9 million job openings for teachers between 2014 and 2024. The Careers in Education Conference mission is to encourage college-bound students to consider a career in education.
