ALBANY, NY (07/24/2007)(readMedia)-- The Executive Directors of the General Building Contractors of New York State (GBC) and the Northeastern Subcontractors Association (NESCA) have jointly issued the attached statement to demystify and clarify the Wicks Law issue that has attracted so much political attention in recent weeks. The bill in question (S.6146-A/A.9204) has been proposed by Governor Spitzer, passed by the Assembly and now resides in the State Senate.

Our two organizations have traditionally been on opposite sides of the controversial and longstanding Wicks Law issue. Today we share the same view that many of the terms of this proposal have been overlooked and misunderstood and that in the end the bill is not only not an improvement for the public, but it is worse than the status quo.

The attachment is meant to be an op-ed piece, but can be converted and used otherwise if you wish.
