SPRINGFIELD, IL (10/25/2018) (readMedia)-- Get a close-up view of life in the trenches of Europe during World War I. See how Illinois National Guard troops lived and fought during WWI. The event features uniformed Living Historians, a recreated trench with WWI military equipment and battle reenactments. In addition, there will be two lectures directly related to the Great War by Lincoln Land Professor Chris McDonald. Uniformed re-enactors will demonstrate WWI combat techniques through mock battles. On Sunday at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, there will be a memorial service to honor those that fought 100 years ago.
