General Building Contractors of New York State Announces Major Safety Awards

ALBANY, NY (08/28/2008)(readMedia)-- The 2008 winners of the GBC Safety Excellence Awards, the statewide construction industry awards program recognizing excellence in safety, were recently announced. They are:

BBL Construction Services, LLC (Albany) - Building Division, 225,000 hours worked and up

Hunter Roberts Construction Group (New York City) - Building Division, 225,000 hours worked and up

LECESSE Construction Company (West Henrietta) - Building Division, 90,000 to 224,999 hours worked

LPCiminelli, Inc. (Buffalo) - Building Division, 225,000 hours worked and up

The Pike Company, Inc. (Rochester) - Building Division, 225,000 hours worked and up

Sano-Rubin Construction Co., Inc. (Albany) - Building Division, 90,000 to 224,999 hours worked

Welliver McGuire Inc. (Montour Falls) - Building Division, 225,000 hours worked and up

The winners will be honored at an awards presentation this fall.

The criteria used to determine the winners of GBC's Safety Excellence Award exceed industry standards, and include, among other requirements, a workers' comp experience modification rate of 1.0 or less, the company's five-year OSHA 200 history, and random jobsite inspections used to gauge the effectiveness of the company's safety program.

The GBC safety awards program recognizes and honors those companies who, year after year, consistently maintain safe working conditions on their jobsites, while continually striving to improve upon their safety programs.
