Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York Launches Its $100 for the 100th Campaign: 1912-2012

HALFMOON, NY (09/24/2012)(readMedia)-- During this centennial year the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) has a special anniversary effort to give all friends of Girl Scouts the chance to help every girl be the leader she wants to be, the leader the world needs her to be.

When girls succeed, we all succeed. Girl Scouts alumnae are living proof of the impact of Girl Scouts. The Alumnae Impact Study recently released by the Girl Scout Research Institute shows that participation in Girl Scouts has a significant impact on:

• Self-esteem. 71% of those who were Girl Scouts for three or more years consider themselves capable and competent, compared to 55% of non-alumnae.

• Civic Engagement. 90% of those who were Girl Scouts for three or more years are registered to vote, compared to 63% of non-alumnae.

• Education. 48% of those who were Girl Scouts for three or more years have attained a college degree, compared to 28% of non-alumnae.

• Income/Socioeconomic Status. Women who were Girl Scouts for three or more years report a higher household income ($53,200) than non-alumnae ($42,200).

Alumnae say Girl Scouts was a positive and rewarding experience. Gifts of $100 for the100th will empower Girl Scouts ToGetHerThere right here in the neighborhoods of our own council.

Be part of the celebration and legacy and give a gift of $100. Please take advantage of this opportunity to be recognized as a valued commemorative 100th Anniversary donor.

Join us in this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, to continue supporting local girls now and over the next 100 years.
