Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York Showcases the Creative Work of its Girl Members

HALFMOON, NY (05/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) is hosting a Media Gallery at the Albany Institute of History and Art in Albany, NY on May 19th from 2-4pm. The event will showcase the work of girls who participated in the GSNENY Art Series Pilot Program. The series consisted of programs entitled: Young Women Authors, Photographers, Artists, and Young Lady Artists that met for 5-6 weeks to learn how to use different material, meet professionals in the specific areas and to expand their creativity.

The program is just one example of the many different types of fun and fulfilling experiences you can have as a Girl Scout. Girls just need to find a Pathway that's right for them. What is a Pathway? A Pathway is the way in which a girl can join or participate in Girl Scouts. The choice is theirs and they can choose more than one Pathway. Our current Pathways are:

• Troop – Regular meetings with local girls who decide on what activities they want to do

• Travel – Girls explore their world through local, regional, national and international travel opportunities

• Series & Events – Girls participate in a one-time event or in several program sessions based on a particular interest or topic

• Camp – Girls who have an interest in a total outdoor experience

• Virtual – while still in the development stages, it will allow girls to connect with peers through a safe girl-centric online platform designed exclusively for Girl Scouts
