HALFMOON, NY (05/07/2013)(readMedia)-- On April 27, 2013 the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) held its second annual Girls Running the World Daisy Dash & 5K run. This year the run took place in Schenectady's Central Park where over 325 girls and adults participated in the race. The race was designed with the goal to allow all participants to run the course at their own pace, and celebrate putting their best self and foot forward by engaging in healthy choices and exercise.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, and the run provided a great way to promote this message. The run is a lot more than a running program. It's about embracing the power within each of us, and making healthy choices inside and out.

The run was supported by grants from the MVMA Foundation, Price Chopper's Golub Foundation, NBT Bank and the Rotary Club of Schenectady East.

Radio Disney provided on-air promotions leading up to the run, as well as being on-site the day of the race with music and activities creating a "running spirit" for all participants.

GSNENY wishes to thank all of our supporters, volunteers, staff and the city of Schenectady for making the run such a success.
