Government Contracting: Rethinking How New York Procures Technology

ALBANY, NY (02/27/2014)(readMedia)-- Government Contracting: Rethinking how New York procures technology is the feature topic of the next New York Technology Roundtable presented by speaker Russ Guarna, vice president, state and local government for TechAmerica.

The session will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Hampton Inn Albany, from noon to 1:00 p.m.

"The state is a big consumer of technology so understanding the contract procurement process, and ways it can be improved, is an important long-term issue for both the state and business community," said Marcus Ferguson, director of government affairs for The Business Council of New York State, Inc. At the session, Guarna will share his expertise on technology procurement, highlighting best practices for a more efficient and fairer process in New York. Prior to joining TechAmerica he was deputy director of the State of California Department of Technology Procurement Division, where he lead a team of procurement specialists in the acquisition of large scale IT integrated solutions and the next generation of telecommunication and public safety communications contracts. Additionally, he was also the deputy director of the California Technology Agency's program and policy management areas, providing oversight of the state's multi-billion dollar IT project portfolio.

The New York Technology Roundtable, convened by The Business Council of New York State, Inc., is a luncheon seminar series that serves as a resource for members and the greater business community in New York State.
