CLEARWATER, FL (04/03/2012)(readMedia)-- After an exciting season that ranked the Cougars #3 in the nation, the team said goodbye to Coach James Whitaker as he accepted the position of assistant athletic director and men's soccer coach at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC. After an extended search, the College is pleased to announce that 2009 CCC alumnus Sam Greeley has accepted the position of men's soccer coach effective immediately.
Prior to this new assignment, Coach Greeley served as a teaching and research assistant at The University of South Florida where he is currently pursuing an MS in exercise science. While at CCC, Greeley played defense for the Cougars and earned national and regional recognitions from Adidas (NSCAA All-American) and the NCCAA Division II (1st Team South All-Region, Academic All-American, Team MVP, and 1st Team All-American), as well as a place in the CCC Hall of Fame. Sam continues to play soccer for Florida Suncoast Soccer League (Clearwater International FC) and recently qualified for the U.S. Beach Soccer National Tournament where he finished in 3rd place.
Vice President for Student Life Ryan Dupee said, "We are thrilled to have Sam as the new soccer coach. He has a strong devotion to the Lord and we are confident that he will communicate the message of Christ on and off the field. His commitment to the team is evident and we are glad he had the opportunity to interact with the players and coaching staff for the past two years leading up to this opportunity."
