Helicopter Display at D.C. Armory to be unveiled

WASHINGTON, DC (12/02/2012)(readMedia)-- A UH-1V helicopter display is slated to be unveiled at the D.C. Armory, Sun. Dec. 2nd. Media are invited to view the ribbon cutting, which will begin around 11a.m. The helicopter arrived on a flatbed truck Friday and was moved into position with a crane.

The unveiling will follow a ceremony to honor the Soldiers and Airmen of the D.C. National Guard. This year marks the first time all D.C. National Guardsmen are home for the holidays since 9/11. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, Chief, National Guard Bureau Gen. Frank Grass and President of the National Guard Association of the United States Maj. Gen. (ret.) Gus Hargett are scheduled to present awards and make remarks at the ceremony. The event is open to the public and the media is invited to attend.

The helicopter was part of the D.C. Army National Guard inventory, and was used during Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and on Southwest Border Patrol before its retirement.
