Illinois National Guard promotes Petersburg native to Colonel

SPRINGFIELD, IL (09/28/2018) (readMedia)-- Springfield, Ill. – Brian Creech, of Petersburg, Illinois, was promoted to colonel during a ceremony at the Illinois Military Academy, Camp Lincoln, Springfield, Illinois on Sept. 21.

Creech has more than 32 years of military service, he first enlisted as an Infantry Soldier in 1986. He received a commission from Officer Candidate School in 1996 as an Infantry officer. Creech serves as the Deputy United States Property and Fiscal Officer for Illinois.

In addition to command and staff positions for the Illinois National Guard, Creech served a tour of duty as the Resource and Contracting manager for Recruiting and Retention at the National Guard Bureau.

Creech holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Masters of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College. Additionally Creech is a graduate of the Quartermaster and Ordnance Officer Advanced Courses, Human Resource Officer Qualification Course, and the Combined Arms and Services Staff School. Creech is a Level III Certified Defense Financial Manager and a Level II Certified Contracting Officer.

During the ceremony Creech's wife Stephanie and son Bryson joined him on stage. Stephanie removed the rank of lieutenant colonel from her husband. After their son, Bryson, pinned the new rank of colonel to his father's chest.
