Jacksonville Resident Enlists in Illinois Army National Guard

SPRINGFIELD, IL (08/30/2017) (readMedia)-- Spc. Adam Dotson, of Jacksonville, Illinois, was sworn into the Illinois Army National Guard July 25, at the St. Louis Military Entrance Processing Station.

Dotson enlisted as a 19D, Cavalry Scout, and is assigned to Company M, Recruit Sustainment Program in Shiloh, Illinois.

Upon completion of his initial training Dotson will be assigned to Troop A, 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry Regiment, based in Pontiac, Illinois.

Dotson is a 2001 graduate of Longview High School in Longview, Texas. Dotson has previously served five years in the Army including a deployment to Iraq in 2005.

After successfully completing his training, Dotson will take advantage of the Illinois National Guard Grant, which pays 100 percent of college tuition while he works as a full-time student and a part-time Soldier. He will also be eligible for the Select Reserve G.I. Bill and federal tuition.

The Recruiting and Retention Battalion and Company M congratulated Dotson and welcomed him into the Illinois Army National Guard.
