"He is most helpful, always telling me, 'Call if you need any help and I'll be there.' He has always done so, no matter what I requested," said Bea Gleason, a resident of Westside.

According to his daughter and nominator, Jenica Lensmeyer, his dedication and hard work make him stand out in the community.

"He is truly appreciated by everyone in the community," she said.

Quandt's day of recognition will be Friday, August 14 at the 2015 Iowa State Fair. He will be recognized with a ceremony on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage at 2:30 p.m. Along with accommodations at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott, Quandt will receive a cash prize, Grandstand tickets and use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart.
