Jim Gronbach Named Iowan of the Day
DES MOINES, IA (07/30/2012)(readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Jim Gronbach of Dakota City as an Iowan of the Day for the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Gronbach is an active member of the Humboldt Community School District Facilities Committee and is dedicated to various projects including the upkeep of community facilities. He supports athletic boosters and donates his time and construction equipment to the Humboldt-Dakota City community and school fundraisers. Gronbach has been a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years and assisted in the flood relief efforts that hit Humboldt County in 2008. Gronbach is involved in his church, where he has held a number of different leadership positions. He takes pride in his community and helps out at many \events such as the Humboldt Rotary Club Fly-In Breakfast and the Art Festival.
"Jim's dedication and caring attitude to Humboldt are to be commended. He is not afraid to address tough challenges and follows through with the decisions and commitments. When big projects need to get done, Jim is there with a positive attitude," said Greg Darling, Superintendent of Humboldt Community School District. Gronbach's optimism and hard work ethic make him a deserving Iowan of the Day.
Gronbach's day of recognition will be Wednesday, August 15 at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. Along with a one night's stay at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott, he will receive a cash prize, grandstand tickets and use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart. Gronbach will also receive a special introduction at 2:30 p.m. August 15 on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage.
Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day program allows the Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize Iowa's shining stars. The program continues to honor individuals from across the state each year who have made a difference in others' lives while upholding characteristics associated with Iowa-dependability, integrity, hard work and sense of community.
The Blue Ribbon Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation has generated over $85 million for renovations and improvements to the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
