Join the American Lung Association in Tennessee for the LUNG FORCE / Turquoise Takeover KICK OFF RECEPTION

CHATTANOOGA, TN (05/04/2016)(readMedia)-- Every five minutes, a woman in the U.S. is told she has lung cancer. In fact, the lung cancer death rate has more than doubled over the past 35 years, making it now the #1 cancer killer of women.

The American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE Campaign is stepping up to fight against lung disease and put an end to this crisis in women's health. Join us at the LUNG FORCE / Turquoise Takeover Kick Off on Monday May 9th at 6:30 p.m. at the Bluewater Grille on 224 Broad Street in Chattanooga to learn how you can help.

Enjoy appetizers and a cash bar while learning about LUNG FORCE's important mission to unite women to stand together against lung cancer and for lung health.

There will also be a Climb for Air challenge across the street at High Point Climbing and Fitness on Monday, May 9th at 7:00pm. Nineteen Pulmonologists and Medical professionals from Erlanger Health System will be challenging their rivals from Chattanooga Memorial Hospital, Kindred and Parkridge Hospitals and Allergy groups in a race to the top of the outdoor climbing wall. Participants are welcome to join. Contact Shirley Cudabac at Shirley.cudabac@lung.org to register.

The events will mark the start of Turquoise Takeover, a movement to spread awareness about lung cancer and lung disease by painting the town turquoise. Throughout the week of May 9th-14th, Chattanooga residents will notice splashes of Turquoise across their skyline including The Tennessee Aquarium and Liberty Tower.

By joining the LUNG FORCE / Turquoise Takeover Kickoff, you can help make a difference in lives that desperately need it. Together, we are a FORCE to be reckoned with. Call for the American Lung Association Office for Reservations. RSVP by Friday, March 18th by calling Shirley Cudabac at (423) 629-1098 or email Shirley.Cudabac@lung.org.
