GAFFNEY, SC (04/19/2011)(readMedia)-- Randy M. Hines of Kennesaw [30144] was named Limestone College's Alumnus of the Year during the school's Alumni Weekend  April 15-17.

Selected by the Limestone College Alumni Association's Board of Directors, the Alumnus of the Year Award is presented to a Limestone graduate who has provided distinguished and meritorious service to the college.

"We would be hard pressed to find an alumnus who loves their alma mater more than Randy Hines," said Limestone President Walt Griffin.

Hines, a native of Cliffside, NC and a member of Limestone's Class of 1979, was a gifted student-athlete as he earned his bachelor of science in business administration. With a tremendous work ethic, he worked his way through college and was named Most Valuable Player for the Saints Golf Team. After graduating, he worked for the College's Office of Admissions and served as Coach for the same team he played for. During his tenure as Coach, Hines was named the NAIA District Coach of the Year for three consecutive years (1981, 1982, 1983). Even after departing the College for an advertising job in Atlanta, the 1984 Saints Golf Team invited him to serve as Coach in their 1984 National Championship Game. In 2001, he was inducted into the Saints Athletics Hall of Fame.

After working as a Sales Associate in Atlanta-a tenure that included a Maxi Advertising Award in 2001-Hines leveraged his strong work ethic again by founding his own company, the RM Hines Group, also in Atlanta. Today, the organization serves clients throughout the country with their marketing and branding needs.

Hines has given graciously to his alma mater in the form of support and leadership. He has served multiple terms as a Trustee and his Chair of the College's "Today's Needs...Tomorrow's Dreams" capital campaign. The College and her students also continue to benefit from his love of golf through his founding of the annual Rogue Classic Golf Tournament which benefits the Limestone College Scholarship Endowment Program.

Hines and his wife Susan have been married for 28 years.
