GAFFNEY, SC (05/01/2013)(readMedia)-- During its Alumni Weekend events (April 19-21), Limestone College recognized Rev. Dr. Jeff Paschal with its Service to Church Award. He is a member of Limestone's Class of 1981.

Each year, Limestone presents its Service to Church Award to a graduate who exemplifies living a life of mission and purpose for the benefit of others.

"At Limestone, I received a liberal arts education that helped me develop critical thinking skills, exposed me to numerous subjects and disciplines, and prepared me to move into theological study and pastoral ministry," said Jeff.

He has been a Presbyterian pastor for almost twenty-three years, and has served churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and North Carolina.

Jeff is also a gifted author. He has engaged in social justice issues such as immigration reform, Biblical interpretation, gun violence, capital punishment, and others through his weekly column for The News & Record newspaper (Greensboro, NC). He has also written numerous scholarly materials for pastors and intellectuals which have subsequently been printed in books including Feasting on the Word: Preaching the Revised Common Lectionary and Feasting on the Gospels: Luke.

Numerous organizations including Goodwill Industries, The Diversity Network, and Clergy Against Violence have benefited from Jeff's stewardship.

Jeff currently resides in Oak Ridge, NC with his wife Beth and is serving as Senior Pastor at Guildford Park Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. The couple has five children.
