Kincaid Soldier Earns Meritorious Service Medal

SPRINGFIELD, IL (10/19/2018) (readMedia)-- Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony Mollusky of Kincaid, Illinois, has received the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding leadership and success as the top noncommissioned officer of the Illinois Army National Guard's 405th Brigade Support Battalion based in North Riverside, Illinois.

Mollusky was the battalion's command sergeant major (its top enlisted Soldier) from September 2016 until September 2018 leading hundreds of Soldiers in a multi-faceted logistics battalion that includes transportation, quartermaster, maintenance and headquarters companies. He was also the battalion's last command sergeant major as changes in Army force structure drove the inactivation of the 405th Brigade Support Battalion and the activation of the 198th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in its place. The battalion converted to the 198th CSSB on Sept. 8, the same day Mollusky handed over responsibility for the battalion's enlisted force to Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Behary of Sherman, Illinois. Mollusky is now the sergeant major of the Illinois Army National Guard's Logistics Directorate.

"Command Sgt. Maj. Mollusky's professionalism were key to the battalion's success in all of its training and in preparing the battalion for a smooth transition to a combat sustainment support battalion," said Lt. Col. Timothy Barnhart of Springfield, Illinois, the Commander of the 198th CSSB and former Commander of the 405th BSB.

Mollusky has more than 28 years of military service and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course among many of military leadership and qualification courses. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Springfield and an associate's degree from Lincoln Land Community College. He is a veteran of the Iraq War and the Persian Gulf War. His civilian affiliations include Veterans of Foreign Wars Lafore Lock Post 755 of Springfield, American Legion Post 905 of Kincaid, the National Guard Association of Illinois and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

He and his spouse, Michelle, have two children, 19-year-old Taylor and 15-year-old Alex. He is also the father of Addam Kinsel, 25, of Springfield.
