ALBANY, NY (10/10/2008)(readMedia)-- The State Board of Elections reminds all state residents that the last opportunity for in-person voter registration in time to vote at the November 4, 2008 General Election, is Saturday, October 11th.
According to NYS Election Law, in a Presidential year, in addition to registering by mail the County Boards of Elections must offer additional in-person opportunities for people to register to vote. The Election Law provides for a uniform date throughout New York State, and this year, that uniform date is Saturday, October 11th. The minimum time period counties will hold in-person registration is from 2-9 p.m. Individuals are reminded to check with their county board of elections for specific times and locations for in-person registration in their community.
Voters who have not registered by mail by October 10th, which is the registration deadline by mail, can take advantage of this last opportunity to register in person on October 11th.
