Lindsey Hopkins accepts the Maybelline New York Design Achievement Award from Maybelline vp Doreen Arbel

SAVANNAH, GA (09/16/2011)(readMedia)--

Lilburn native and Savannah College of Art and Design fashion graduate Lindsey Hopkins won the Maybelline New York Design Achievement Award Friday, September 9 during NY's Fashion Week.

Doreen Arbel, assistant vp for Maybelline NY, presented Lindsey with a $25,000 grant, complimenting Lindsey's collection as embodying "confidence, wit and style."

Lindsey was one of 22 SCAD grads who presented their senior collections under the tents at Lincoln Center in New York during Fashion/Next, ELLE Magazine's annual showcase of the best and brightest emerging designers, sponsored by Maybelline

Lindsey showed "Victorian digital printed dresses and separates" at the show, according to the fashion blog, racked. com. Lindsey researched old photography and chose images that reflected the mood best expressed by Radiohead's "Reckoner" as the inspiration for her collection.

Lindsey's debut collection was seen by a who's who of the fashion industry.  The show sported a spectacular front row -- in addition to SCAD President Paula Wallace were the former First Daughter, Jenna Bush, supermodel Iman, Victoria Secret model Karolina Kurkova, actress and "Dancing with the Stars" dancer Julianne Hough, Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Corinne Bailey Rae, a group of New York Rangers, as well as some of the head honchos from Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.
