Llerena Signs Letter of Intent with Clearwater Christian College
CLEARWATER, FL (04/16/2013)(readMedia)-- Indian Rocks Christian School senior Ashley Llerena signed a letter of intent to attend Clearwater Christian College and to play volleyball for the Cougars at a ceremony held on campus in Clearwater, FL, on Friday, April 12. Ashley was a setter on the Indian Rocks Christian Varsity Volleyball team for all 4 years of high school. Ashley was selected to the All Suncoast team Honorable Mention her sophomore year, First Team All-County and Honorable Mention All Suncoast her junior year, and Honorable Mention All-County her senior year. Ashley broke the school record for most assists in a season her junior year with 894 assists and broke the record for most assists in a career with 2,539 assists. She also played club volleyball for the Pinellas Heat. Her coach at IRCS was Mark Foster, another Clearwater Christian College alumnus. Ashley is the daughter of Gio and Suzy Llerena of Largo and plans to study Exercise and Sport Science with a specialization in Pre-Physical Therapy.
In her comments regarding Ashley, Coach Denny said, "Ashley has a great background of experience and skill for our setter position. She comes from a volleyball family and has been well coached over many years. I am thrilled with her decision to come to CCC and what she brings to our program. I am also encouraged regarding Ashley's commitment to Christ. She is actively involved in her church and has travelled on numerous mission trips. I am excited to see her bring that heart for ministry to our team."
Clearwater Christian College is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and participates in Division II competition.
