Local Organizations to host Public Meeting with State and Federal Elected Officials in Poughkeepsie

Congressman Maloney, State Senator Gipson, Assemblyman Skartados to participate in public meeting hosted by Community Voices Heard & Hudson Valley organizations

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (02/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Community Voices Heard and a number of allied organizations will host a public meeting in Poughkeepsie with federal and state elected officials to discuss issues important to low-income residents of the Hudson Valley, including affordable housing, youth issues, raising the minimum wage, immigration reform, safety net programs, job creation, instituting a Fair Elections system in the state, as well as the federal and state budget. The event is open to the public.

WHO:

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (Cold Spring); State Senator Terry Gipson (Poughkeepsie); State Assemblyman Frank Skartados (Newburgh); Community Voices Heard (CVH), a member led organization of low-income families with chapters in Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Yonkers and NYC; Dutchess Outreach; End New Jim Crow Action Network; Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation; NAACP, Orange County; NAACP, Southern Dutchess County; R.E.A.L.
