ALBANY, NY (08/16/2010)(readMedia)-- Olean resident Kenneth L. Putt was named a 2010 Outstanding Volunteer by the Credit Union Association of New York.
The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes individuals who exemplify commitment to a credit union or to the New York credit union movement. Putt won the award in the asset category of $50 - $250 million.
"Volunteers like Kenneth are an essential part of what makes credit unions uniquely able to help members build a better financial future," said William J. Mellin, the Association's president/CEO.
Putt was among the first members of Dresser Clark Federal Credit Union in 1973, now known as Olean Area Federal Credit Union. He has been providing volunteer services at the credit union for over 32 years, beginning as the credit union's sole supervisory committee member. He joined the credit union's board of directors in 1995 and continues to serve in that capacity today.
Putt's leadership, commitment and enthusiasm have helped the credit union grow to serve 18,000 members with over $178 million in assets. Those qualities also helped the credit union maintain its foundation and identity through several moves, building projects and branch openings.
At 81 years young, Putt continues to make time to organize the credit union's annual staff/board holiday party, always ensuring an enjoyable evening for all.
Olean Area Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1972. As of Dec. 31, 2009, the credit union had over $177 million in assets and more than 19,000 members. For more information about Olean Area FCU, please visit www.oleanareafcu.org.
