Local Student Abby Benton of Vergennes Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/22/2012)(readMedia)-- Abby Benton, a member of the Class of 2012 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Bill and Kristin Benton of Vergennes.

Benton earned a B.A. degree magna cum laude at Skidmore's 101st commencement in May. She also was one of three students who earned the Charles S. and William P. Dake Community Service Award, awarded annually to students who either volunteer regularly in the Saratoga Springs community or who exhibit extraordinary efforts in support of the spirit of volunteerism in the Skidmore community.

She earned honors for academic work completed during the spring semester.

During her Skidmore career, Benton was elected to membership in the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society in economics.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
