Local Student Adina Fried of Demarest Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Adina Fried, a member of the Class of 2012 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.
She is the daughter of Kenny and Sharon Fried of Demarest.
Fried earned a B.A. degree summa cum laude with honor in psychology at Skidmore's 101st commencement May 19 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. In addition, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society that exists to encourage and recognize outstanding individual achievements in liberal education.
Prior to commencement, Fried was presented the Michele Kelly '72 Memorial Award, named in honor of an alumna and presented annually to a psychology major on the basis of excellence in independent research.
Fried earned honors for academic work completed during the spring 2012 semester.
Earlier in her Skidmore career, Fried was elected to membership in two honor organizations: the Skidmore chapter of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, and Skidmore's Periclean Honors Forum, which recognizes academic achievement and promotes intellectual and creative activity as well as citizenship and civic engagement.
Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
