Local Student Allison Putnam of South China Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (07/01/2013)(readMedia)-- Allison Putnam, a member of the Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Roger and Sally Putnam of South China.

Putnam earned a B.S. degree magna cum laude with honor in education studies at Skidmore's 102nd commencement in May. In addition, she received the John P. Shepard Prize in Education Studies, named in honor of a former professor and given annually to the student who has demonstrated superior performance in both academic achievement and fieldwork in education. The prize also recognizes the recipient's demonstrated outstanding potential, commitment to education and working with children, and leadership among peers.

She earned honors for academic work completed during the spring semester at Skidmore.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
