Local Student Edward Porter of Wellesley Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (07/01/2013)(readMedia)-- Edward Porter, a member of the Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

He is the son of Izola and Thomas Porter of Wellesley.

Porter earned a B.A. degree magna cum laude with honor in history at Skidmore's 102nd commencement in May.

He also was elected to membership in the Alpha Delta Tau chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the international honor society in history. This spring he received the Lee History Prize, annually awarded to an outstanding student in English or European history.

Porter earned honors for academic work completed at the college during the spring 2013 semester.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
