Local Student Jennifer Brown of Larchmont Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/28/2013)(readMedia)-- Jennifer Brown, a member of the Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Arthur and Debra Brown of Larchmont.

Brown received a B.A. degree magna cum laude with honor in neuroscience and psychology at Skidmore's 102nd commencement in May.

In addition, Brown was one of two students to receive the Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Prose Award, named in honor of a former Skidmore president and presented to students who submit the best examples of expository prose in English. She also received the Amy Eisenberg '72 Memorial Award, named in honor of an alumna and presented annually to a junior or senior for research in educational psychology.

Brown was elected to two honor societies: the Skidmore Periclean Honors Forum, which recognizes academic achievement and promotes intellectual and creative activity as well as citizenship and civic engagement; and Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
