Local Student Katelin Jennings of Westport Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (07/01/2010)(readMedia)-- Katelin Jennings, a member of the Class of 2010 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Peter and Ruth Jennings of Westport.

Jennings earned a B.S. degree summa cum laude with honor in social work at Skidmore's 99th commencement in May. In addition, she received the Hilda Bashevkin Betten '39 and Morris H. Betten Award in Social Work, presented annually to a graduating senior who has shown outstanding interest and achievement in the study of social work at Skidmore.

Jennings earned high honors for academic work completed during the spring semester at Skidmore.

During her Skidmore career, Jennings was a member of Periclean, Skidmore's own academic honor society, which was formed in 1956 to stimulate intellectual curiosity, encourage creative activity, and honor academic achievement. In addition, she was elected to membership in the Skidmore chapter of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
