Local Student Liza Rimsky of Port Washington Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/22/2012)(readMedia)-- Liza Rimsky, a member of the Class of 2012 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Lee and Cathy Rimsky of Port Washington.

Rimsky earned a B.A. degree magna cum laude with honor in psychology at Skidmore's 101st commencement in May.

She also received the Caren Lane Sass '35 Award in Psychology, named in honor of an alumna and awarded to the senior psychology major who shows great promise for future achievement. In addition, Rimsky was elected to membership in two honor societies: Alpha Kappa Delta, the national sociology honor society, and Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology.

Rimsky earned honors for academic work completed during the spring 2012 semester.

During her Skidmore career, Rimsky was elected to the Skidmore Periclean Honors Forum, which recognizes academic achievement and promotes intellectual and creative activity as well as citizenship and civic engagement.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
