SAVANNAH, GA (08/17/2011)(readMedia)-- Marlow Larson of Gainesville, a 2011 fashion graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, will have the extraordinary experience of presenting his designs at New York's Fashion Week – twice! This is a rare, if unheard of, opportunity for any designer, much less a 22-year-old recent college graduate.
On Thursday, September 8, Marlow will be one of eight designers from around the country who will be competing for $10,000 during the 2011 Supima Design Competition held at Lincoln Center during Fashion Week. Each finalist received Supima fabric with the instructions to produce a collection of five evening-wear looks to walk down the runway.
The following day, September 9, Marlow will show his clothes at ELLE Magazine's Fashion/Next fashion show, a partnership between ELLE and SCAD supporting the vision of emerging designers and fostering fashion's next generation. He will be eligible to win a $25,000 ELLE Design Award and a $10,000 ELLE People's Choice Award selected by ELLE.com users (voting goes live on Sept. 9). Marlow's work will also be featured in ELLE Magazine in the October and December issues, online at ELLE.com and as part of ELLE TV.com's ongoing documentary series.
Earlier this year, Marlow was a finalist in the prestigious Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship award, walking away with a $10,000 scholarship at an award dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
