SAVANNAH, GA (08/15/2011)(readMedia)-- Max Lipson, a Tarrytown native and a 2011 graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design's illustration department, leads a double life – children's book illustrator by day, rock 'n' roller by night. And he just hit the jackpot in both worlds --, releasing his first children's book and getting his first album recorded.
Lipson, who goes by 'Miggs,' – a nickname he picked up in Tarrytown -- just released his first children's book, "The Night The Lighthouse Lost His Light," written by Gregg Russell, published and distributed by Gregg Russell Co., and 3G Entertainment. It's the story of a lighthouse whose friends come to his rescue to restore his beacon after a storm knocks it out. This fully-illustrated book sold out its first printing within the first few weeks that it was on the market.
Miggs is also a rapper/singer and trumpeter for the Savannah-based band "Word of Mouth, " an 8-piece, multi-genre eclectic ensemble. "Word of Mouth" is currently recording their first album in Nashville. Connect Savannah, the city's arts weekly, says Word of Mouth blends hip hop, reggae, folk, classical and rock 'n' roll "in a fun, fascinating free-form-feeling musical hippie-style amalgam."
"I've been really happy with the response of the book and will most definitely be working more with Gregg," says Miggs, "With the illustration and the music, everything is going really well for me right now – and it's all so much fun."
