ADDITIONAL INFO:

• Ground was broken on the $18 million Normal Readiness Center in March 2013.

• The 18,000-square-feet of shared space on the Heartland Community College campus is the new home to the 404th MEB.

• As the Illinois Army National Guard transforms to meet the challenges of the 21st century, this new facility will serve as a critical readiness platform for our Soldiers to train and prepare to help our neighbors, protect our state and defend our nation.

• The 404th MEB, previously headquartered in Chicago, includes units with capabilities designed for domestic emergency missions, including search and extraction; mass casualty chemical, nuclear and biological decontamination; military police; firefighting; engineers and communications.

• The readiness center allows the 404th MEB easy access to the highway system and an airport in the central portion of the state.
