More than 200,000 Joined the "No Kings" New York March

Unprecedented Rebuke of Donald Trump's Policies and Executive Overreach

NEW YORK, NY (06/15/2025) (readMedia)-- New York, NY – On Saturday, June 14, more than 200,000 New York residents took to the streets to exercise their First Amendment rights and oppose President Donald Trump's executive overreach, including his unprecedented slashing of social services, rampant ICE kidnappings, his attacks against educational institutions, and this administration's systemic defiance of court orders.

Millions of people, in more than 2,100 cities and towns across the country, joined together for the No Kings Day of Defiance, marking the largest coordinated protests since President Trump returned to office. From block parties to marches, families, workers, immigrants, and neighbors showed up in the face of military deployments and political threats to affirm a shared truth: we don't answer to kings, and we will not be ruled by fear.

With hundreds of events still underway, today's "No Kings" actions have already drawn more than 5 million participants-nearly 2 million more than the Hands Off protests on April 5.

They brought joy, drums, banners, and faith. They came not to clash-but to claim what is ours: the right to gather, to speak, and to rise. And rise we did-with dignity, love, and powerful resolve. Turnout was overwhelmingly more than initially anticipated. Organizers and local law enforcement reported over 200,000 in New York, over 100,000 in Philadelphia, and in some towns like Pentwater, Michigan, saw 400 people join in their small town with a population of 800.

Quotes:

"Today, we saw hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers fill the streets with community and creativity and determination. Unlike Trump, we don't need tanks and forced marches to feel powerful, because we know that real power rests with the people. We're going to keep standing up for our country and our constitution for as long as it takes to stop this authoritarian overreach."

– Molly Sandley, Indivisible

"This administration tried to intimidate peaceful protestors from coming out today, but 200,000 people filled the streets of New York City nonviolently, and joyfully, to prove that fear won't win. We showed up bigger than expected, and we'll keep showing up until power is back in the people's hands. Nokingsnyc.com to find the next one."

– Hannah Stauss, 50501 Movement Organizer

"We love the United States even with all its imperfections, because it was founded on the idea of rejecting monarchy, of saying no to concentrated, unchecked power. And yet, here we are, generations later, still watching a handful of people decide who gets freedom, who is allowed to live in dignity, and who doesn't."

– Ilana Glazer

"We literally started a whole new country based on the simple ideas of no kings. And it is that idea that brought most of us here, unless you are an American native or a Mexican. We built this country strictly on the no kings rule my country, my body, or my bank policy. That, and the simple notion that you can't be arrested, and tossed into a dungeon, or a detention center, or a concentration camp, or some damp basement without a fair trial."

– Mark Ruffalo

All "No Kings" events adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety.

Organizers are trained in de-escalation and are working closely with local partners to ensure peaceful and powerful actions nationwide.
