ALBANY, NY (06/23/2010)(readMedia)-- Larry Jackson, producer of the 1988 hit film Mystic Pizza, will be the featured speaker at a presentation on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 7:30am – 9:00am at Capital Repertory Theatre at 111 North Pearl Street in Downtown Albany. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Albany BID and Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau and is presented free of charge. After the successful filming of Salt & The Other Guys in Downtown Albany in 2009, the Downtown Albany BID, in cooperative partnership with the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau, became interested in exploring for their stakeholders the economic impact of attracting future film projects to the District. Debby Goedeke, Albany County Film Commissioner of the Capital Saratoga Film Commission, will discuss their efforts in attracting the film industry to the Capital Region. Jackson will describe how Mystic, Connecticut was positively affected after he brought the production of the 1988 film Mystic Pizza to the town, addressing regional filmmaking and its long-term economic impact. Attendees will also have a first look at Grazing Miss Albany, coined 'A family feud over faith and food' being produced by Capital Region resident Mike Camoin, set in the Miss Albany Diner on Broadway, and hear about the national traction this local film is gaining.
