NYS AFL-CIO Announces Endorsement of Vanessa Gibson and Marco Crespo for Assembly

ALBANY, NY (05/29/2009)(readMedia)-- Denis Hughes, President of the 2 ½ million member New York State AFL-CIO today announced the State Labor Federation's endorsement of Vanessa Gibson for the 77th Assembly District and Marco Crespo in the 85th Assembly District. The special election for the open seats in the 77th and 85th Assembly districts is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2nd.

President Hughes stated, "The New York State AFL-CIO is pleased to announce its endorsement of Vanessa Gibson and Marco Crespo. Bothof these candidates have cultivated a strong relationship with local unions in their district, and have shown a keen awareness and understanding of the issues, needs and concerns of working men and women.

"As a result of their commitment to the ideals of working people, they have received substantial support within the local labor movement in these Assembly districts."

"We are confident that with labor's support, both Vanessa and Marco will be elected to the New York State Assembly on June 2nd, said Hughes.

The New York State AFL-CIO represents approximately 6,000 union members and their families in the 77th Assembly District and 8,000 union members and their families within the 85th Assembly District.
