Natalie Alvarez of Newburyport Earns Academic Recognition at Skidmore College

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/17/2011)(readMedia)-- Natalie Alvarez, a member of the Class of 2011 at Skidmore College, earned academic recognition at the college this spring.

She is the daughter of Jeanne Petrillo-Alvarez of Newburyport.

Alvarez earned a B.S. degree cum laude with honor in social work at Skidmore's 100th commencement in May. In addition, she was one of six students who received the Katherine Scranton Rozendaal Citizenship Award, named in honor of a former trustee and presented annually to selected seniors who have shown outstanding citizenship in the Skidmore community and who have lived and learned respectably by the Skidmore Honor Code.

She earned highest honors for academic work completed this spring.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in some 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
