BUTNER, NC (11/17/2010)(readMedia)-- The North Carolina National Guard will be conducting small unit training at Camp Butner National Guard Training Center, in Butner, N.C., on Nov. 18. The training will begin at 8:00 am and will continue throughout the day regardless of weather.
Members of the NCNG Pre-mobilization Training Assistance Element (PTAE) will be running small units through a variety of training scenario lanes at the camp. The training will validate the units on critical unit tasks needed to deploy overseas in the near future.
PTAE has members assigned in Guard units throughout the state and are responsible for ensuring units meet mobilization training requirements for deployments overseas.
Camp Butner sits on 4,750 acres of land, and is composed of multiple rifle and pistol firing ranges, as well as, additional training area. The camp was established in 1942 and was utilized as training and maneuvering area for combat troops in World War II. Artillery firing was also conducted there during that time.
