RALEIGH, NC (08/18/2010)(readMedia)-- The North Carolina National Guard's 113th Finance Detachment, 130th Financial Management Company, is scheduled to return to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Raleigh, N.C., tomorrow, Aug. 19, at 7:00 p.m.
Almost 30 Soldiers of the detachment were mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom in October 2009. The 113th deployed to Iraq on December 2009, where they provided financial management support for an airbase north of Baghdad and five outlying bases. The unit had no casualties.
The 113th provided financial services to Soldiers, such as check cashing, electronic banking, setting up allotments and advising Soldiers on individual financial matters. The unit also disbursed over $35 million to U.S. pay agents for civil service projects, small business loans and various other aid missions.
The 113th has deployed previously in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Kuwait in1991, and again in 1997 in support of Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia and Macedonia.
The Soldiers will be arriving at the General Aviation terminal at RDU-International Airport to be reunited with their families and loved ones. There will be restricted access to the tarmac due to heavy airplane and support traffic.
The terminal is located at 1750 East International Dr., Raleigh, N.C. The event is open to the public, and there will be additional signage to identify where the reunion will be held.
Media representatives who wish to attend are requested to RSVP with the North Carolina National Guard Public Affairs office at pao@ng.army.mil or by phone at (919) 664-6242. For more NCNG news, please visit our website at www.nc.ngb.army.mil/.
