National Organization for Women-New York State Welcomes Governor David Paterson

ALBANY, NY (03/12/2008)(readMedia)-- With respect to the recent events surrounding Governor Spitzer's resignation, we of NOW-NYS extend our warmth and friendship to Silda Spitzer and to the Spitzer's three teenage daughters. While we are saddened by the Governor’s personal behavior, we are grateful for the strong role Governor Spitzer has played in promoting legislation to benefit women.

In addition, we of NOW-NYS have known and worked with incoming Governor David Paterson for many years. We appreciate his dedication and commitment to issues that affect women. We look forward to continuing our work towards pay equity for women, protecting women’s right to choose safe and legal abortions, expanding health care for every New Yorker, and equal marriage for same sex couples.

In short, NOW-New York State looks forward to working with Governor David Paterson and welcomes the opportunity to further advance the rights of women.
