Celebrating 30 years of hilarious, politically based satire – including 17 annual performances at Nazareth College –The Capitol Steps will return to campus for their traditional New Year's Eve shows.

"They're the best. There's no one like them, no one in their league."

- Larry King, CNN

Irreverent, unique, and adamantly bi-partisan, The Capitol Steps always provide fresh material that references current headlines. Expect songs on Charlie Sheen, immigration, health care, the budget, partisan politics, unfaithful politicians, and the Tea Party. As they aptly note, The Capitol Steps "puts the 'mock' in democracy!"

Founding group member Elaina Newport (an "extreme moderate") says, "Typically, the Republicans goof up, and the Democrats party. Then, the Democrats goof up and the Republicans party. That's what we call the 'two-party system.' "

Originally, The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. They have recorded more than 30 albums, including their latest, Desperate Housemembers and Barackin' Around the Christmas Tree. They have been featured numerous times on prime time TV and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their "Politics Takes a Holiday" radio specials.

Desperate Housemembers, features John Boehner and his new Republican majority, a bevy of dispirited Democrats, and a cast of international stars including Hosni Mubarak, Silvio Berlusconi and Muammar Qaddafi.

The Capitol Steps often sell-out; advance ticket purchase is strongly suggested.

The popular local guitarist, Steve Greene, and his jazz group, The Steve Greene Trio (drums, bass, and guitar) will perform prior to each show and during intermission.

The Capitol Steps performances are Sponsored by Margaret R. Colacino.
