New York Public Transit Association (NYPTA) to Host Transit Awareness Day

ALBANY, NY (01/22/2018) (readMedia)-- The New York Public Transit Association (NYPTA) will promote public transportation during Transit Awareness Day on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in The Well of the Legislative Office Building.

WHO:

New York Public Transit Association members, representatives from the state’s transit agencies, business partners, labor and riders.

WHAT:

Representatives from the state’s transit agencies, business partners, labor and riders will meet with lawmakers to gain support for public transit and emphasize the industry’s valuable contribution to the State’s economic recovery, development and sustainability. Public transportation is a critical factor in New York State’s economic recovery and advancement. Maximizing affordable mobility for all New Yorkers pays dividends now and in the future. Public transit contributes to New York’s financial health, with more than 70 percent of all mass transit trips taking people to and from work. Not only do the state’s transit systems directly employ more than 75,000 people, but their annual multi-billion dollar capital investment programs produce jobs and have a powerful economic impact in manufacturing and service businesses in all regions of the State.
